Principal's Update: Term 1, Week 2

What a positive start to the year we’ve had.
It was great to welcome our students back to CCAS last week and see their enthusiasm and energy as they settled into classes for another year. I especially want to welcome our new families that have started this year and hope that you feel the warmth and acceptance of the CCAS community.
Our opening Whole School Chapel, which brought together K-12 in one venue, is always a highlight of the first week back. There was such a buzz having all our students from the very tiny Kindys to our young adults in Year 12 together to start another year.

The new Learning Hub building is now fully operational and our students and staff are enjoying the extra capacity and flexibility this new space provides. We are still working on finishing off internal fencing and gates to fully secure our campus which we hope to have finished in the next few weeks.
We look forward to providing an opportunity for all our parents to come and see this wonderful new facility when we open up for the community on our Open Day later this term.
I am looking forward to the year ahead and again want to thank you for your support of, and belief in this wonderful school.
Mr Tony Kent
Principal
HSC 2024 Results
We are incredibly proud of our 2024 Year 12 students for their outstanding achievements in the 2024 HSC.
An impressive three-quarters of all grades were Band 4 or above, with 60% of students earning Band 5 or Band 6 results. One-third of all grades achieved were in these top two bands.
A special congratulations to Tyler Cossor, who achieved an exceptional ATAR of 98, an outstanding accomplishment!
These results reflect the dedication and hard work of our students, supported by our committed teachers and families within the CCAS learning community.
Well done to the Class of 2024 on their success!
Mr Ryan Starrett
Data Coordinator

Important: Kiss & Drop Area
With the new Learning Hub now fully operational and the Kiss & Drop area back in use, we would like to remind our CCAS community of the correct procedures for using this facility to ensure the safety of all students and the smooth flow of traffic.
Kiss & Drop Guidelines
The Kiss & Drop area is designed to facilitate a quick and efficient drop-off and pick-up process. To maintain order and safety, we ask all parents and guardians to adhere to the following rules:
- Kiss and Drop zones are for drop-off and pick-up only. Parents should remain in their vehicles and ensure their child is ready to exit promptly.
- A maximum stay of two minutes applies. If your child is not immediately ready, please move forward to allow other vehicles to enter the zone.
We also want to remind parents that the road outside the Kiss & Drop area, in front of the parking spaces, is a non-stopping zone. Vehicles must not stop in this area, under any circumstances, to drop off students. Doing so creates a serious safety hazard, as children may be forced to cross in front of moving vehicles, disrupting the flow of cars trying to access parking spots.
We appreciate our community doing the right thing, following these regulations and remaining patient during peak drop-off and pick-up times, ensuring a safer and more efficient experience for all.

Primary Parent Information Night
Join us for this year's Parent Teacher Night tomorrow evening, February 11th, where teachers will share information on the year's activities and classroom operations.
We want to continue to create an environment where every child thrives through a partnership with home and school. Each session will be approx 30-45min. Connect with teachers, gain insights, and discover resources to support your child's journey.
We can't wait to see you there!
Mr Craig Davis
Head of Primary School

Absences During Term

Short Absences
Parents are requested to log absences of 1-4 days through the SEQTA Engage app.
These notifications can be for current absences such as sick days or appointments, or for future time off such as a short family holiday (4 days max can be logged).
To view how to log a short absence, please click the link below.

Extended Absences
If you are planning a holiday during term time, it is a government requirement that students taking extended leave for 5 or more consecutive school days must apply for a Certificate of Exemption from Attendance at School.
For future holidays, this can be found on our school website: Quicklinks-Parent Hub -Absences.
To view and complete this application now, please click the link below.
Student Responsibility
If your leave will coincide with major events eg. important exams or assessments, please make sure your child discusses the absence with their teachers.
If you are ever unsure, please call or email the school directly.

Seqta Engage: Access To New Parents

Last week, we sent our new families a Seqta welcome email containing your login details for Seqta Engage, our parent portal. This email is essential for accessing important school updates, student reports, and communications.
If you are new to CCAS and have not yet seen this email, please check your inbox, spam, or junk folder in case it was filtered there.
Continuing parents can use the exact login details from 2024, which will remain valid into 2025.
To assist you in navigating Seqta Engage, we have also attached a user guide with instructions.
If you haven’t received the email, please contact us at marketing@ccas.nsw.edu.au, providing your correct email address so we can assist you.
Email Communication With Secondary Teachers

Please be advised that our school policy for email communication allows teachers 48 hours to respond to your email. Many will respond quicker than that, but if they have to collect data or information for you, then they will possibly take this amount of time.
Also, thank you for being respectful in your dealings with CCAS staff.

Help Keep Our School Healthy
With one of our students immunosuppressed, we must maintain a vigilant approach to illness prevention. We urge you to keep your child at home if they are feeling unwell. This not only helps safeguard their own health but also protects their classmates, especially those who may be more vulnerable.
If your child contracts Measles, Chickenpox, Shingles, Influenza or COVID-19, please notify us immediately so we can take appropriate measures.
Additionally, please reinforce the importance of proper hygiene practices with your children. Regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and avoiding close contact with others when feeling unwell are simple yet effective measures in preventing the spread of illness.
Your support and cooperation in this matter are greatly appreciated as we strive to foster a healthy and thriving learning environment for all.
Thank you for your understanding and commitment to our school community's well-being.
